Miniatures - Then and Now
Pianist Laetitia Fédérici and violinist Neta Rudich will be performing an all Miniatures concert featuring compositions from the 1800s to the present day, specifically highlighting the work of women composers.
The programme offers a new perspective on the concert format of yesteryear, where musicians often presented a collection of short virtuoso pieces accompanied by a single sonata.
The recital will feature work by Kate Whitley, György Kurtag, Clara Schumann, Anton Webern, Lili Boulanger and Sergei Prokofiev.

Passiontide: Arvo Pärt's Passio
Described as a “minimalist masterpiece”, Arvo Pärt’s iconic setting of the St John Passion brought the composer international recognition. With the declamation of the text being uppermost in Pärt’s mind, the role of Evangelist for is scored for solo quartet accompanied by violin, oboe, cello and bassoon. The chorus takes the role of the crowd, and the parts of Jesus and Pilate are accompanied by the organ. This rare performance of Passio offers an opportunity for the listener to meditate on Christ’s passion at the start of Holy Week.
